Birthplace/Date | Edinburgh, Eastern General, 12 March 1959 - the last of the Rock n' Roll years. |
Primary School | Sciennes Primary |
Secondary School | Glenwood High School in Glenrothes - a truly crap school which was the equivalent To a preparatory school for Borstal and full of Rangers and Celtic supporters. |
First Hearts match | The first one I can remember is a freezing 0-0 against Airdire in 1967? My Grandad told me Alan Gordon would score and I believed him too. |
How long a member of London Hearts | Since 1986 possibly when we met in the Lyceum on the Strand |
How did you find out about London Hearts | If I remember correctly my Mum told me that she had read something in the Sunday Post about it! I don't know if this is right, life is a bit of a fog really. |
Favourite all time Hearts Player(s) | Roald Jensen - exotic when the team wasn't Peter Oliver - as I played left back Donald Ford - especially when the Physics Teacher used to use his lugs as an example of being handicapped by wind resistance. Drew Busby - summed up the Gorgie Jungle days really. Robbo - I never thought that I would be privileged to see a player that compared to Willie Bauld who although I never saw him he was held as The Hearts all time great. Stephane Adam - who gave us a truly wonderful moment and a name for my youngest (though my wife refused Stefan to have Adam as his center name. Also I changed the spelling of Stephane to Stefan as I didn't want him to be called Stephany when he grows up!). |
Most memorable Game | The Cup Final Locomotive Leipzig -on the pitch after and I took a couple of blades of grass to school to prove it! |
How often do you get to games | Every home game and some away games - it's easier when you live 5 minutes away. |
When did you leave Scotland? (If applicable) | Left for London in 1985 and returned to Edinburgh in 1996 |
Why do you live in the South? | Left for a job, returned for quality of life. |
Favourite English team | I watch out for Rotherham, Millwall and Spurs results due to people I know who support them. |
Lowest moment following Hearts? | Where do we start apart from 1986 Losing 3-2 in the cup at Dundee on my birthday in 76 when Donald Park I think hit the stansion at the back of the net with a 20 yarder but the ref though that it hit the crossbar when the ball came back out again. The relegation years though it was great fun going to away games such as Alloa etc |
Best Hearts goal? | Wayne Foster against Hibs,
Adam against Rangers, Drew Busby against Ayr (he punched it in with his fist then turned to us behind the goals and laughed). |
What is the best thing about being a Jambo? | The Jambo community and our perennial high hopes tinged with the awful reality. I must say the lack of humour, atmosphere and the speed by which home fans get on the team's backs is a bit of a downer. |
Proudest moment following Hearts? | Munich in the 80's and of course the Final. One I could not possibly condone this now but in the days of Docs and Levi Stay Pressed..... A classic pincer movement at Easter Island in the 70's when half the Gorgie left early much to my disbelief and pride 5 minutes later when they reappeared above what is now the Infamous 5 stand. This caused mayhem and panic amongst the muppets who jumped on the pitch only to be caught by the remaining lot of us in the Dunbar end who also jumped on the pitch. |
How did you become a Jambo? | My Grandad and of course my family except my Dad were all Hearts mad. |
