First Hearts match | Between 64-65, was only 3 or 4, got a lift over the turnstile, never saw much of the game though, but knew it was home. |
How long a member of London Hearts | Not A Member |
How did you find out about London Hearts | Surfing |
Favourite all time Hearts Player | Drew Busby, Robbo, Jim Cruickshank, Bobby Prentice, Eamonn Bannon, John Colqhoun. |
Most memorable Game | Locomotive Liepzig Beating Rangers 3 - 0 @ Ibrox 1973-74 (around then) Dundee 1986 for all the wrong reasons. PSG in Paris 1984, got beat but a shit load of fun. Arbroath 7-0 just before xmas '77. (Slight contrast from Paris, but we launched "By the light of the Silvery Moon" in the local pub / hotel. (Also writer with Fordy after another game to the Robbo song circa 79/80) |
How often do you get to games | Packed my bags, went overseas for a few months & then came to Australia after the 1986 disaster. Never returned. Prior to that most games, when living in Scotland. |
Favourite English team | Newcastle United |
Lowest moment | Relegation was a real downer, but 1986, losin' the league on the last game of season against Dundee blew that to pieces. Crazy, cruel, unnecessary, sad day. The memories still pain. The last straw. |
Best Hearts goal | Cup final winning goals. That Robbo goal against Dundee United. |
Best thing about being a Jambo | It taught me to be constantly optimistic through some tough times, the loyalty of so few, but we kept on going and going. Grosvenor Bar Hearts, as commited as any supporters club in existence in it's time. |
Proudest moment | Always proud. Sometimes took a wee while to get over certain events, but the club, culture & history still goes on, that's pride enough. Winning the cup final against Rangers 1998, although I was only watching it live and could not get back, my thoughts were with all the people that deserved that occassion and all the memories and years that preceded that glorious moment of lifting the cup. So many deserved that moment. Been even better if Robbo had got on, however the deal had to be closed, and we were vulnerable in defence for a while there. Developed friendship with Robbo via his then girlfriend, now wife Tracey. Played bowls with her father at the Colinton Bowls Club. Tracey even came to games with the lads on the Grosvenor Bar Hearts Supporters Bus. I wonder still if Robbo still has my old Bowls "JR" engraving? We share the same initials. Proud experience. |
How did you become a Jambo | Born fifty yards from Tynecastle Park and a fanatical father led the way. |
