How long a Hearts Supporter

11-20 Years

First Hearts match

Away at Dundee Utd. in the early/mid eighties, Hearts were all over them and were leading 1-0 from a Jardine thunderbolt. Richard Gough equalised in injury time.
My brother and I went as neutrals that day.
I remember the Hearts support being superb, and Hearts playing style was really good to watch.
After that, I went to every game that season.

How did you find out about London Hearts

Kickback

Favourite all time Hearts Player

Wee Robbo - the hammer of Hibs.

Colin Cameron - a true class player for many years.

Craig Levein - silky smooth defender and such a shame about his knee.

Dave McPherson - a superb player for Hearts during both spells, and highly under-rated.

Most memorable Game

It would have been the 98 cup win but I couldn't make it home. In fact I made a conscious decision not to come as I'd been at every big game since the mid eighties and we'd not won a thing, so I must be the jinx! A great game was the League Cup Final defeat to Rangers (4-3).

We played superbly and were robbed by the referee.

I came back from Abu Dhabi especially for that one - a great day out but freezing and the wrong result...

How often do you get to games

Now, only when I'm home which is not that often so I onlt get to see a couple of games per season at best.

When I lived in Scotland, I went to every game, home or away.

Favourite English team

Man U are superb to watch when on form.

Lowest moment

Definitely this is a double lowest moment - losing the league in May 86 at Dens after leading for 6 months, being unbeaten in over 30 games. We had a major virus problem with the team but the league wouldn't allow us to postpone the game. We still only needed a draw though. We had a stonewall penalty turned down in the first half when Sandy Clark was fouled, then we lost two goals in the last 7 minutes. All this while St. Mirren were lying down to Celtic at Love St and losing 5-0. That's the first time I'd seen so many grown men cry.

Then a week later we lost the SC final 3-0 to Aberdeen.

A great season but such an anti-climax...

Best Hearts goal

Iain Ferguson scoring a 22 yarder against Bayern Munich in the 1/4 final of the EUFA cup to win 1-0 at Tynecastle. The place was absolutely packed that night and I was just level with the goal between the wheatfield/shed. It was absolutely mental!!

Best thing about being a Jambo

I'm very proud to support the JT's.
In my time as a supporter, we've been through thick and thin and been nearly there so many times so it was great to finally see us get the cup win - surely we deserved it after all those near misses.

It just gives you a real sense of loyalty and comradeship that's hard to find in other walks of life!!

Proudest moment

When we won the cup in 98.

How did you become a Jambo

My dad was a Motherwell supporter and my Grandpa supported Ayr United.
I'd been taken to see both, as well as Celtic, Hibs and Rangers in the 70's.
My mates were Rangers supporters so I saw a few games with them in the early 80's.
In the early/mid eigties, my brother and I decided we'd pick a Premier League game to go and see every week.
We started with Celtic / Dundee Utd. at Parkhead, but it was the first time we say the Jambo's (away at Tannadice) that we feel in love with the style of play and the supporters (both in the pub at in the ground).
