How long a Hearts Supporter | Over 30 Years |
First Hearts match | Badgered my Dad for over a year to take me to a game (he thought I was too young) and finally he relented and took me to Texaco Cup tie against Motherwell 16.10.72 (drab 0-0 affair) but the magic of the floodlights had me mesmerised as happened again the following season when he took me to the Everton and Burnley Texaco games. |
How long a member of London Hearts | Not A Member |
How did you find out about London Hearts | Followed the links from other Hearts sites |
Favourite all time Hearts Player | In the 70's it was Drew Busby - Who gave it his all! Ford, Prentice and Cruickshank were heroes too. 80's - Robbo was the main man, but I had great admiration for Levein, Colqhuhoun Smith and Clark. 90's - Robbo still ruled, with Johnston (all too briefly),Adam, Cameron and Neil McCann all entertainers. Latest era - Niemi has underlined his importance and I like what I see of Andy Kirk who if he develops further will become a big player for us. |
Most memorable Game | The early Texaco ties.
Loco Leipzig 5-1. Championship decider V Airdrie in 1980. Hibs 3-2 in 83/4. 3-0 at Tannadice in 86 just before the unthinkable. 6-0 V StMirren in 87-8. Hibs 4-1 Jan 91. Aberdeen semi in 96. Hibs 4-0 away in Jan 97. Robbo equaling Wardhaugh V Dunfermline and then breaking the record V Rangers. The Final in 1998! |
How often do you get to games | Not often enough in the last couple of years (family commitments) but the wee lad and I are going for our season tickets tomorrow (9.6.01).
he's 6 and he's taking an interest now! |
Favourite English team | Any who play entertaining football.
Loved watching Match of the Day on a Sunday morning. hope ITV are up to the job next season. |
Lowest moment | 76 final.
The relegations (77 in particular and in 81 it looked like goodnight Vienna!). One week in 1986. The semi final defeats that shouldn't have happened. The two defeats in the 96 finals. |
Best Hearts goal | Busby v Leipzig.
Robbo V Dundee Utd 86. Cameron V Rangers in 98 final. Adam V Rangers in 98 final. Loads of others. Don't want to overload the site! |
Best thing about being a Jambo | It's like real life.
Has its ups and downs. Too many support the Old Firm to make their sad pathetic lives have some importance and success attached to it. Any Hearts fan I've ever known is a special type of person. It tells me loads about them that I know I will like and I form immediate favourable impressions of them. Quite simply all us Jambos are all very special people. |
Proudest moment | Too many to mention. |
How did you become a Jambo | Quite funny actually.
I was always destined to be a Jambo thanks to my Dad's influence. His own Dad (my Grandad) leaned towards Hibs but thankfully Dad had more sense. My fifth birthday, Mum buys me a Hibs strip!!!! Dad comes home from the pit off the backshift and sees me kicking a ball about in the back garden wearing you know what. He flipped and my poor mother had some explaining to do! "I liked the colour," said she! suffice to say, Dad made sure that at the weekend he took me to the Hearts shop to get the works. Hearts top, shorts, socks, tracksuit, tammy, bar scarf, autograph book, some programmes, badges, etc, etc. Must've spent a half a weeks wages. Boy was I happy and I never looked back! |
