Di Canio finds a pal

2 Dec 1996

CELTIC'S Paolo Di Canio (above) has found an unexpected defence counsel following his sending off at Parkhead after a clash with Hearts' Steve Fulton.

Tynecastle keeper, Gilles Rousset, involved in a wrestling match with the Italian after he had scored with a penalty, showed sympathy for his fellow immigrant.

"He is Italian, with hot blood" said Rousset.

"But he wants to win.

He shows he cares about winning.

That is good." However, the keeper conceded that sometimes Di Canio goes too far.

"When you score you can get excited but you can get too excited." Asked what happened when the two had their little contretemps, Rousset said: "I tried to pick up the ball but he pushed me.

But then he pushed everybody." Di Canio now will be fined for his misdemeanors, which will probaly cost him around £10,000.
