Rover 'n out for Jambos

Hearts' pre-season build-up took a knock last night when they crashed 4-2 to Raith Rovers at Stark's Park.

Manager Jim Jefferies fielded new signings Steven Pressley and Rob McKinnon in defence - but his Jambos still looked weak in that department.

Raith went ahead after only seven minutes. Greig McCulloch powered his way into the penalty box from the right and picked out Keith Wright who nodded in from close range.

Hearts equalised in 13 minutes after a brilliant piece of individual skill from Pressley. Simone Baldo teed him up 10 yards out and he fired a low drive into the bottom left corner of the net.

But Raith made it 2-1 in 32 minutes when Ian Cameron met a Steve Tosh cross and angled a header past goalkeeper Roddy McKenzie - the veteran striker's fifth goal in five pre-season games.

Tosh nodded Raith's third just before halftime and although Jose Quitongo pulled one back for Hearts in 49 minutes, sub Graham Robertson pounced on a poor passback in 83 minutes to finish off Jefferies men.
