DODS WILL ENSURE ANOTHER BIG GAIT

Caleythistleonline.com regular contributor David Sutherland gives his views on Saturday's match

In The best traditions of sections of the Scottish sporting press, I feel I should be trying to find something controversial or negative to write about from time to time.

The trouble is that life is extremely rosy and positive for Caley Thistle supporters right now - and it's great to be able write positive things week after week.

The Tynecastle win over the stricken Jambos is the latest case in point.

No doubt this will be remembered by many as the game Hearts lost when some players were down with the flu. This is a shame, as Caley Thistle went out and won the game in their now customary professional manner.

It was particularly pleasing to see Darren Dods get his first goal for Inverness.

When he was signed by previous manager John Robertson in the summer, I was surprised. I had seen him playing for St Johnstone and was not hugely impressed. Not for the first time this season, I have been delighted to be proved wrong.

The big central defender has perhaps the strangest running style in the SPL, but he is thriving at the heart of an Inverness defence which has conceded just three goals in its last six league games.

That's impressive by any standards and the platform on which Inverness's recent success has been built.

Celtic may have hit the Pars for six at the weekend, but I know their supporters are still nervous about the team's trip north on Wednesday. Anything other than a win for the Hoops will be a major setback in the title race.

The pressure will really be on Celtic and that might bring out the best in them. On the other hand, it might not - but they certainly will not be in any way complacent.

I'm looking forward to the game immensely. ICT seem to be relishing being back home and they will not be afraid to have a real go. I suspect we could be in for a close and highly dramatic evening.
