BRUNO'S AIMING FOR BACK-TO-BACK TITLES

HEARTS TRANSFER SWOOP
By Anthony Haggerty

BRUNO AGUIAR is confident he can win his second league title in a row after joining Hearts yesterday on a three-and-a-half-year loan deal from FBK Kaunas.

The Portuguese midfielder won a championship winners' medal last season with Benfica back in his homeland and after spending three weeks on trial at Tynecastle he's convinced he'll soon have his hands on a second.

Aguiar, 24, said: "I had an agreement with Hearts and I did not really have a trial with them as I spoke with the club about three months ago and only signed the deal this week.

"I was waiting for international clearance but that did not arrive until this week.

"I have been following Hearts' SPL title challenge since I found out I was going to be joining the club. It has been frustrating not being able to play in the matches. But I am ready to give my best to the club now and can't wait to get started.

"There is a great team spirit at Hearts and there are players of great quality here. We just need to work together and win every game we play.

"Winning the title with Benfica was an unforgettable experience but that is in the past now and I have joined Hearts to win the Scottish league.

"This is a childhood dream to sign for Hearts as I have always wanted to play abroad. Playing football in another country is great for any player.

"I believe I have made the right decision to sign for Hearts and I am fully behind this project and what this club are trying to achieve."

The former Portugal Under-21 international Aguiar admits it was a wrench to leave Benfica - a club he was with since he was nine.

He said: "Benfica will always have a special place in my heart as I was with them such a long time.

"It is the club that I managed to win the Portuguese league title with and that is important to me and an important achievement in my country.

"But I'm a Hearts player now and it's my job to do the best I can for the club."
