FANS MADE IT SO LEESY FOR LOAN RANGER

By Gavin Berry

LEE MARTIN thanked Rangers fans for helping him through his first Ibrox match and insisted they made it easy for him.

The Manchester United kid dazzled on his home debut as he inspired his team to a 2-0 win over Hearts.

Kris Boyd bagged both goals as Gers took revenge on the club that pipped them to a Champions League place. Instead of being fazed by a capacity Ibrox crowd, Martin (left) thrived on the occasion and capped a tremendous performance by setting up Boyd for his second goal.

He said: "The result and the experience was unbelievable. The reception I got from the crowd was brilliant so it made my life a lot easier."

With Martin on the left and Chris Burke on the right, Rangers gave their fans a treat with a display of sizzling attacking football. Martin believes there will be more to come from both. He said: "I'd like to think I'm a confident lad so I just want to get out there and play my football.

"Chris Burke is really talented and you could see that - it just goes to show how much talent we have in this team."

As a tricky winger who showed he can deliver an excellent ball, Martin was delighted to see target man Boyd score on his first start of the season.

He reckons they can work well and said: "It's good to play with Kris and Dado Prso. You get loads of flick-ons in behind so it's great to have a sort of target man you can work off.

"Kris is a proven scorer and had a point to prove and he went out and did it so fair to play to him."

Martin made his debut from the substitutes' bench in last week's 1-1 draw with Dunfermline and reckons the Jambos result made up for that.

He said: "It was brilliant. We really had to win after last week's performance. The main thing was to get three points and we did that so it was a good day. We improved dramatically from last week but the main thing was winning and we did that."

While Martin is keen to impress Gers boss Paul Le Guen he knows it is vital to show his Manchester United gaffer Sir Alex Ferguson he can cut it at the top.

He said: "Sir Alex probably has spies in the stand. Before I left to come to Ibrox he just told me to enjoy it and make the most of it.

"He said Rangers are a great club with a lot of history and had only good words to say about them."
