Rovers loan Janczyk

St Johnstone midfielder Neil Janczyk (pictured) has joined Second Division Raith Rovers on loan until November.

The 23-year-old Edinburgh-born player came the youth system at Hearts and made 25 league appearances for the Tynecastle club as well as 12 appearances whilst on loan at Alloa.

After being released by Hearts in May 2005, Owen Coyle moved quickly to bring him to Perth and although he started the season in the side, had lost his place to Paul Sheerin by the end of August and never regained it, despite scoring his only goal for the club from the bench against Partick Thistle in the Bell`s Cup. After just 4 starts for Saints, Coyle explained to the player at the end of last season that he`d be looking for an improvement this term but before pre-season was over, he was informed he was free to find a new club.

Like Stephen Dobbie, who has joined Dumbarton on loan, a permanent move has not materialised but the player is now presented with an opportunity to at least put himself in the shop window if not force his way back into Coyle`s reckoning.

Both clubs and the player have agreed the terms of the deal and Janczyk is expected to feature in a closed door game against Falkirk at Westfield Stadium this evening and should, subject to all the paperwork being completed, be in the Rovers squad for Saturday`s trip to Central Park to face Cowdenbeath.

Janczyk joins other former Saints Mark Campbell, Kevin Fotheringham and Blair Batchelor at Stark`s Park.

Stephen Dobbie is in the Dumbarton squad for tonight`s final CIS Cup second round fixture between the Sons and Inverness Caledonian Thistle at the Tulloch Stadium, with Saints safely in the hat for Monday`s third round draw after their 4-0 victory over Elgin last night.

Depending on the outcome of tonight`s match, Saints will be paired with one of the following clubs in the next round: Celtic, Hearts, Rangers, Hibs, Kilmarnock, Motherwell, Dundee United and either Inverness CT or Falkirk.

Manager Owen Coyle has spoken to the Saints Official Website about last night's match. He revealed: 'I share the frustration of the supporters that we couldn't win this game in the 90 minutes.

'I want to win games but I want to do it by passing and playing attractive football that's good to watch and I felt we passed the ball well enough but it could and should have been done quicker and I'll be emphasising that to the players on Thursday and Friday. I told them that they just needed to be patient and the goals would come and that proved to be the case. Had we got one goal in the first half I think we would have won handsomely in 90 minutes.'

Coyle is also still actively pursuing transfer targets and remains confident of having at least two new faces on board by the time the transfer deadline closes next Thursday.
