MAN BY MAN

CAPTIAL CRUNCH...
Compiled By Colin Duncan

HIBS

Zibi Malkowski 4

Badly at fault for both goals and all over the shop with kicking. A liability.

Steven Whittaker 6

Areal threat with over-lapping on the right flank but caught out for Hearts' equaliser.

Rob Jones 6

Kept things simple but fairly effective. A real threat at set-pieces.

Shelton Martis 6

Strong and uncompromising at the back. Didn't let much past him all day.

David Murphy 7

Consistent display from the full-back. Mopped up any danger and linked well with Zemmama going forward.

Michael Stewart 7

Brown and Thomson get the plaudits but Stewart holds things together.

Scott Brown 8

Amazing energy from the midfielder who ran until he limped off 10 minutes from end.

Kevin Thomson 7

Stamped class all over proceedings. Dictated the play and controlled the tempo.

Merouane Zemmama 8

Sublime skill and quality finish gave Hibs early lead. A menace throughout.

Ivan Sproule 7

Pace played integral part in opening goal.

Chris Killen 6

Strong and direct, he led the line superbly and held the ball up well.

Subs:

Stephen Glass - Slotted into Stewart's role, 4.

Steven Fletcher - Replaced Brown late on, 3.

Dean Shiels - Only on for 10 minutes but looked lively, 3.

HEARTS

Craig Gordon 7

No chance with either of the goals. Amazing injury-time stop to earn his team a draw.

Ibrahim Tall 6

Preferred ahead of Neilson and lucky to see nasty tackle on Jones go unpunished.

Steven Pressley 6

Booked for desperate lunge on Brown - a carbon copy of the one on Shevchenko which earned a red in Ukraine.

Christophe Berra 5

Found it difficult to cope with the physical presence of Killen. Poor distribution.

Lee Wallace 6

Initially struggled to contain Sproule but stuck to task well and improved.

Paul Hartley 6

Given little support from his Lithuanian team-mates but never gave up.

Deividas Cesnauskis 5

Largely anonymous as Hibs dominated midfield.

Saulius Mikoliunas 2

Red carded for two snide bookings. Should have walked earlier for cowardly kick at Murphy's head.

Marius Zaliukas 4

First Edinburgh derby and his contribution was negligible. No stomach for the fight.

Andrius Velicka 8

Scored two excellent goals and ran himself to a standstill.

Jamie Mole 5

Starved of any decent service the teenager was on a hiding to nothing.

Subs:

Mirsad Beslija - Made little impact, 3. Bruno Aguiar - On to beef up the midfield, 3. Juho Makela - Thrown on at the death, 2.

Moment that change the game: Zibi

Malkowski's horror error in the first half allowed Hearts back into a game in which they had looked dead and buried.
