Austria Vienna 1 Hearts 2

Thomas Flogel made a brief guest appearance for Austria Vienna as the two clubs who benefited most from his career paid tribute in Saturday night's friendly match.

The 36-year-old had a successful spell at Tynecastle from 1997 to 2002, winning the Scottish Cup in 1998, and was given a warm reception by the travelling Hearts fans at the Horr-Stadion when he came on with seven minutes remaining.

Flogel retired as a player last summer due to injury and is now sporting director of First Vienna.

Hearts put their midweek training-ground defeat to FBK Kaunas behind them to win in the Austrian capital.

Frank Schiemer's own goal put Hearts in front after 19 minutes, the defender turning the ball into the Vienna net after Saulius Mikoliunas fired it across from the left.

Christophe Berra doubled Hearts' lead with a fine headed goal after 56 minutes, before Florian Metz replied in kind seven minutes later.
