Derek Adams aims to steam ahead against Hearts

ROSS County manager Derek Adams is looking to keep his side’s form going and push up the table despite a major turnaround in players.

The Dingwall side will move up to seventh place in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League if they beat Hearts at home today in the only SPL match this weekend.

Adams made his fifth signing of January when he brought in 22-year-old defender Branislav Micic from Swiss club Sion on the final day of the transfer window.

Ross Tokely and Marc Fitzpatrick were both released to make it a total of nine players who have left Victoria Park this month. But County have not been disturbed by the changes, as they go into today’s visit of Hearts unbeaten in 2013 and looking to leapfrog the Edinburgh side.

“It’s great we are able to do these things,” Adams said. “We just want to keep the momentum going.

“We have a lot to play for. We have to catch the likes of Hibernian. “We have only lost two games at home this season. We have been resolute.

“It’s difficult for us coming into the Premier League but we have acquitted ourselves well.

“We know how many points we want to achieve but this group of players just want to keep on winning.”

One of the newcomers, Canada defender Andre Hainault, is looking for his debut having watched from the bench as County beat Hibs 1-0 on Wednesday after getting his work permit through. “I’m looking forward to playing,” he said.

“I have been here for a month and knew I was going to sign for the best part of two or three weeks, so I have been itching to get on the field and help the guys.

“The games are coming up which I like and I’m looking forward to it.

“Things aren’t so bad right now. We are slowly moving up the table and that’s what we have to do – keep looking up and not down.”
