Kingston banned after Hearts accountant attack

Gary Al-Smith 05 February 2013, 17:21

Laryea Kingston simply cannot get out of the bad books of the law, with his latest stunt earning him an indefinite suspension.

The former Black Star physically and verbally assaulted his club’s accountant. This was after a friendly game between Hearts and Apex FC last Friday.

Following the game at the Accra Stadium, the 33 year old has been denied his January salary by the club.

A statement from the club said that it will “suspend midfielder Laryea Kingston indefinitely without pay” and stressed that the player had assaulted the official “in the full glare of supporters.”

This, thus, continues the player’s rich history with trouble. The former Scotland-based player was accused of trying to punch former Ghana boss Milovan Rajevac after being left out of the world Cup 2010 squad.

The reports were denied by the FA.

Last year, in March, Kingston charged on a prominent Hearts of Oak supporter over his substitution in a training game with Division Two side Juventus.

He had directed his fury after his second half substitution on the popular fan, Wumpini, accusing the man of being behind his substitution.

And then months later, the midfielder launched an attack against his then club coach CK Akunnor for sacking him from Hearts of Oak's pre-season camp in Sekondi, after being asked to leave for breaking camp rules.

He later apologized and was reinstated.
