Heart of Midlothian 4-2 Ross County

From Hearts Media at Tynecastle.

Three second half goals in the space of five minutes completed a remarkable turn around for the Jambos as they beat Ross County 4-2 in Saturday's early kick off at Tynecastle.

Steffen Wohlfarth gave the visitors a first half lead, before adding a second shortly after Michael Ngoo had levelled the scores early in the second half. A stunning effort from Holt then brought the Jambos level, before an Evangelos Oikonomou own goal and a second from Ngoo sealed a first win for new boss Gary Locke.

Hearts made three changes to the side that played Aberdeen last weekend, with the injured Andy Webster replaced by debutant Brad McKay in central defence. Meanwhile there was a welcome return to the starting eleven for Jamie Hamill, whilst Dale Carrick lined up alongside Ngoo in attack.

After a scrappy start, the tie came to life on on 21 minutes as Wohlfarth picked up a clearance on the left flank. The striker rounded Hamill as he cuts into the box before curling a stunning shot into the top right corner past a helpless Jamie Macdonald.

Hearts then had Macdonald to thank minutes later as he produced a double save to deny Ivan Sproule in a one on one situation.

The Highlanders continued to dominate proceedings, with Hearts struggling to create anything of note in the final third. Their best chance of the half came on 34 minutes when Kevin McHattie flashed a long distance effort wide of the top left corner.

The disappointing first half display prompted Locke to make two half time changes, as midfield duo Callum Tapping and Mehdi Taouil made way for Holt and Arvydas Novikovas.

The Gorgie side found themselves on level terms within minutes of the restart, as McHattie's cross from the left found Ngoo on six yards who leapt to steer a header past keeper Michael Fraser.

Just five minutes later, however, the visitors regained their lead as a corner from the right saw Wohlfarth dart unmarked across the box before glancing a header into the left corner.

Holt then wasted a great opportunity to level minutes later as he swept a low shot wide of the left post from 12 yards out.

The young midfielder made amends on 79 minutes, however, as he levelled the scores in spectacular fashion. Having drifted into space just outside the box, he steadied himself before unleashing a fantastic half volley into the top right corner.

His strike sparked a remarkable five minutes for Locke's men, who found themselves in front almost immediately. A well worked attack down the left found Walker on the angled run across the box, and the young winger's low shot was subsequently directed into the roof of the net by Oikonomou.

Hearts were full of confidence at this stage as they pinned back their rattled visitors, and duly grabbed their fourth goal soon after.

A lapse in concentration at the back enabled substitute John Sutton to steal possession and release Ngoo. The Liverpool striker raced clear of his market before confidently dispatching his shot past the keeper.

County nearly pulled one back immediately after when a Sproule shot left Kovacevic with an open goal, but the defender's shot sailed over the bar.

The Jambos saw out the remaining minutes to cap off a tremendous second half which ensured that Locke picked up three points in his first game in charge at Tynecastle.
