Live blog: Sunday Matchday Live, the Edinburgh derby By Gregor Kyle

FINAL WHISTLE - And what an end to the match! Ross Caldwell winning the game in the 90th minute with a magnificent finish. In fact, both of Hibs' goals were of the highest quality. It's not been a pretty encounter, at one point in the second half I had to light a candle in memory of the beautiful game, but it was worth it for that finish in the 90th minute. We'll have the match report online in a moment and we'll also have a couple of galleries on the site this afternoon, the third and final part of our Aberdeen, Glory of Gothenburg series and all the highlights from the Ricky Burns fight last night. We'll also be back next weekend with live blogs on Saturday and Sunday, covering the final series of SPL matches - including the Highland derby. Thanks again for joining us here at dailyrecord.co.uk and enjoy the rest of your Sunday!
93 mins

Caldwell almost in again, fires it straight at the keeper, but that's it - the final whistle!
90 mins

GOAL HIBS - What a goal by Ross Caldwell - right in the 90th minute! Griffiths cuts inside and is cleaned out as he squares it to Caldwell. The referee allows play to flow and the youngster looks up and curls it straight into the top corner. Fantastic composure and an even better finish. 2-1 Hibs!
87 mins

This isn't really football. It's like a combination of rugby and mid-distance running. Kick and rush in these closing minutes. Hearts clear a corner under pressure as Griffiths tries to gee-up the away support. The home side do carry a threat on the counter, particularly through Walker and Holt.
84 mins

Yellow card for Jamie Walker for a dive and that's disappointing, thought he was better than that. A woeful attempt to con the official, the defender has left a lazy leg out, but the winger has dived over it. The referee has a great view. Definite booking.
80 mins

HEARTS/HIBS SUB - David Smith on for Mehdi Taouil. He's on for his derby debut. Kevin Thomson also goes off for Hibs, he's replaced by Scott Robertson. Hibs are starting to come back into this match again. They have Hearts penned back and have had a decent spell of pressure. Surprisingly enough, the long balls to the diminutive Harris and Griffiths aren't really working.
73 mins

HEARTS SUB - Hearts make a change - Michael Ngoo goes off, Dale Carrick comes on. The on-loan Liverpool man looked tired. Carrick now taking on a tough shift up front on his own.
72 mins

This has turned into a game of ping-pong. Both sides reduced to lifting balls forward. Any real quality on show continues to come from Harris and Griffiths.
65 mins

Hanlon sends a clearance spinning over his own crossbar at the near post! Hearts have the momentum. It was Stevenson's low cross that caused the problems and put Hibs under pressure, forcing Hanlon to clear. They do deal with the resulting corner though. Still all square at Tynecastle.
60 mins

Some people call it 'drawing a foul' others call it cheating. For Mehdi Taouil it's an art form. He goes down very easily as Claros puts him under pressure. The free kick is lifted forward, Ngoo finds Holt with the knock down and the Hearts man sends a shot spinning inches wide of the target.
57 mins

More trouble for Hearts and some lovely play from Hibs, again involving Griffiths and Harris. They combine before picking out Caldwell, but he can't find a man with his cross and Hearts clear. The home side then respond from a corner, Williams clawing the ball away as it nearly dips in at the back post.
51 mins

That was nearly another one for Hibs! Harris's cross just evading Griffiths at the back post. Hearts are all over the place and this has been a great start to the second half. Wee bit of trouble in the crowd, a flare landed on the pitch after the goal and the stewards are gathering beachballs from the pitch. Jamie Macdonald's in for a fun 45 minutes, right in front of the away support. 1-1.
47 mins

GOAL - EQUALISER - And that is stunning from Leigh Griffiths! No sooner has the game kicked off than Hibs have levelled. It's straight from a free kick from around 25 yards out and powered straight into the top corner by Griffiths! Unstoppable and what a start to the second half!

12.50

Here's some light reading for the half-time interval, the latest from Hugh Keevins and Gordon Waddell. Read them every week in the Sunday Mail.
Gordon Waddell: Spat on the touchline showed that Davie Moyes was right man to succeed Sir Alex
Hugh Keevins: Row over quiz answer shows how Sir Alex Ferguson's will to win extended to everything
47 min

HALF TIME - And the whistle sounds after two minutes of time added on. Hibs have been the better side, but it's been falling down for them in the final third and Hearts have the goal that counts. The away side are grumbling about a foul on Thomson ahead of the corner that led to the goal, but they should have defended it better. 1-0 to Hearts and a decent contest so far.
45 min

GOAL - HEARTS - Darren Barr in the 45th minute! He's away in the summer, but might be about sign off in style! Ngoo wins the initial header from the corner and as Hibs scramble, the ball breaks for Barr. He's on the ground and swings a leg at it and powers it home! Hearts take the lead - completely against the run of play! 1-0 at Tynecastle.
43 min

Hearts might regret not putting this makeshift defensive partnership of Hanlon and Foster under more pressure. They've dealt with the isolated Ngoo pretty comfortably. Griffiths has looked more threatening but has a similar problem, zero support when he does get the ball.
39 min

Walker lifts a shot well wide of target for Hearts, who look strongest on this left flank. McHattie is flying into tackles while Walker is the out ball every time. That's their first real attempt since that earlier Ngoo header that was cleared off the line.
34 min

A long-range free kick from Griffiths, struck from all of 30 yards, is deflected wide for a corner. Hearts have given a few of them away this afternoon, but to their credit, have been first to every high ball into the box. The game's finally calmed down a little, both sides trying to take a breather and put some passes together. Although, just as I write that, the ref has a word with McHattie for a challenge on Taiwo. Nothing wrong with that tackle either, but the referee gives the foul.
29 min

Ross Caldwell is the next to have a dig and sees his deflected shot gathered by MacDonald. Hearts have struggled through this opening half hour, Ngoo looks frustrated and isolated and the midfield just can't get a grip of play. Hibs continuing to play some decent football, although Leigh Griffiths could do with a hand. You have to wonder how many goals he'd have scored this season with someone up front to support him.
23 min

Shout for a penalty and Ryan Stevenson was playing a dangerous game there! Kevin Thomson gets in front of the Hearts midfielder and is brought down in the box. The referee waves away the appeals and that was a close one, Stevenson can't afford to be taking many more chances like that.
20 min

Hibs threaten and that's a couple of glorious chances! Macdonald scrambles and gets down to save from Harris. The away side win back the loose ball and Harris drills in a low cross but there are no takers and Hammill clears at the back post. Hibs get it in the box again, again delivering the ball to the back post, but no one has made the run and Hammill clears easily.
16 min

Tom Taiwo down and dazed after taking a knee in the jaw. That was a completely accidental collision, two players going for a loose ball. The Hibs midfielder is up, moving and okay to continue.
12 min

Chance of the match for the Jambos and a good old fashioned stramash in the box! The danger came from an inswinging corner, Hibs clear after a close-range header is blocked. It was Ngoo who had the header cleared off the line after Williams fumbled. Great chance!
10 min

The pace hasn't dipped, although Hearts are starting to see a bit more of the ball now. The busy little Harris had Hearts under pressure a moment ago with a neat ball across the edge of the six yard box. Hearts dealt with it and broke, with Ngoo unhappy after a coming-together with Hanlon. Absolutely nothing in it. Hearts under pressure again in the tenth minute, Stevenson doing well to win back possession and release Caldwell, but the flag is up for offside.
5 min

Good start from Hibs, who have penned Hearts back in the opening exchanges. A Kevin Thomson free kick led to some lovely interplay between Harris and Griffiths and, when the ball was returned to the latter, he was blocked on the edge of the box by Hammill. The ref lets it go, but that looked like clear obstruction. This looks promising so far. The game's being played at a good pace and Hibs are shading it at the moment.
1 min

And we are off! The away team kick off at 12.02. Griffiths feeding it back to Stevenson at left-back, but Hibs give away possession.
11.59

And the teams emerge to a wall of noise at a packed Tynecastle, which remains one of the best venues in Scottish football. will Foster handle the pressure at centre-back, with no James McPake to guide him?
11.55

Should mention that Hibs also have a debutant in the starting XI in Jordon Foster. The 19-year-old centre-back is highly-rated by Pat Fenlon, joined from Celtic in 2010 and has progressed through the youth ranks with loan spells at Berwick and East Fife.
11.50

The Edinburgh derbies really haven't lived up to expectation this season. We had the goal that never was, a 1-1 draw, a 1-0 win for Hibs and two no score draws. Leigh Griffiths is undoubtedly the one to watch today, but Harris and Handling have really caught the eye in recent weeks and have the pace to trouble Hearts. In terms of the Jambos, It's really hard to see past Jamie Walker at the moment. He has shown some real quality this season and, like the aforementioned Hibees, is great to watch. Holt and McHattie also look promising.
11.45

Ricky Burns also deserves a special mention today. If you have time today, try and track down last night's fight against Jose Gonzalez and watch the Rickster break a bully's heart:

11.42

Here's a little round-up of some of today's football headlines in the Sunday Mail:
Scotland youth boss Ricky Sbragia tells Rangers he'll protect Ibrox star Lewis Macleod if he travels to Euro qualifier
FA Cup Final: Scotland defender Gary Caldwell laughs as he leads Wigan up to lift trophy.. without having played a minute

11.36

I will have a new-found respect for today's match commentators if we get a similar reaction from them after a goal today.

Time for the teamlines:

Before we get to the Hearts v Hibs news, it's time to brighten your day with what might be - without exaggeration - the greatest football clip of all time. We're not over-selling this. Watch it with the sound up and spend the rest of the day singing it.

Good morning and welcome to today’s Matchday Live blog on May 12, here at dailyrecord.co.uk

It’s Sunday and as some of you get the fry-up ready and sit down to your Sunday Mail, while the unlucky ones follow the blog from work, Edinburgh is gearing up for the final derby game of the season.

It’s been a strange season in the capital, with Hearts fighting for their lives and Hibs reaching a cup final, but relying heavily on Leigh Griffiths during an inconsistent league campaign.

Both teams are in the bottom six, both are already making plans for next year and ultimately, bragging rights are the only thing up for grabs today.

The derby games have also disappointed this season, Hibs have won one, the rest have been low-scoring draws, but you are hoping that two very young sides have learned and warmed to the fixture a little.

We’ll be covering the match in full and the blog officially starts at 11.30am, a half hour before kick off. Back then with the latest team news and a pick of today’s Sunday Mail headlines.
