Just the ticket!

First Minister Alex Salmond has added his support to the bid to keep Hearts beating by purchasing two season tickets.

The lifelong Jambo popped into Tynecastle recently to buy an adult and child ticket for the Gorgie Stand - and hopes fellow-supporters keep doing the same.

With the sale of season tickets approaching the 2000 mark since administrators BDO made a plea for fans to get behind the club in its hour of need, Mr Salmond is keen for the Gorgie faithful to maintain the momentum.

"My dad's now nearly 92 and the next time I go and see him if I haven't done my bit to help save Hearts he'll clip my ear and kick my behind," he said.

"He brought me to Tynecastle when I was a young lad and I want other people to have the same opportunity.

"Like all Hearts fans I am desperate that the club is playing not just next season but for the next century and beyond. I want all the young Hearts fans to have the same opportunities I had to support their club."
