Gary Locke says criticism of Hibernian is ‘unfair’ ahead of derby

Hearts manager Gary Locke says criticism of their Edinburgh rivals Hibernian is "unfair" ahead of Sunday's derby clash at Tynecastle.

Pat Fenlon's future as Hibs boss is the hot topic of discussion after a 9-0 aggregate defeat to Malmo in the Europa League was followed up with a 1-0 home loss to Motherwell.

Hearts fell to defeat in their Scottish Premiership opener, going down 1-0 to St Johntone.

And Locke believes both clubs are under pressure ahead of this weekend's game.

He said: "I think that is a bit unfair. We are only one game into the season.

"Obviously they had a disappointing result in Europe but we are one game in so to be saying they are having a disappointing season is a bit harsh in my opinion.

"I think we are both under pressure. I don't think there is any more pressure on them than there is on us.

"We are both desperate to win the game, it is a big game for both clubs and we will be doing the best to win it

"But it is important that I just concentrate on Hearts.

"It is only the second game and we will only get three points if we win.

"But with both of us getting beat on the opening day of the season that makes it more important to try to get the points on board, for different reasons.

"Hibs will be looking to get their season up and running while we are trying to dig into a 15-point deduction."
