No cheer for Jefferies

KEN GALLACHER

26 Nov 1996

HEARTS manager Jim Jefferies could be disciplined by the SFA for his behaviour at the end of the Coca-Cola Cup final and for his remarks made after the game, which the Tynecastle men lost 4-3 to Rangers.

The near-capacity crowd and millions of television viewers saw Jefferies challenge match officials and then become involved in arguments with Scottish League representatives after the game.

I understand that the SFA are awaiting reports from the referee, Hugh Dallas, and also the fourth official, Jim McCluskey, before making disciplinary moves.

But television evidence and also the supervisor's report could be used.

The SFA are already upset at the number of managers and coaches who are becoming involved with officials during games.

Celtic manager Tommy Burns is already in line for a second appearance before the disciplinary committee after his outburst at the Old Firm game.
