Jambos in rush for new strip

HEARTS’ new strip is set to be the most popular in the Jambos history after supporters bombarded the club with enquiries in the week following its launch.

In the days after the Gorgie outfit revealed a lucrative new sponsorship deal with retail giants all:sports which will see Reebok manufacture the kit from this summer, more than 3000 fans were in contact about how to secure the new uniform.

"The response from the supporters has been magnificent," said spokesman Douglas Dalgleish.

"We have had more than 3000 enquiries, mostly over the internet, and we are busy trying to convert them in to advance sales.

"The fans appear to be very enthusiastic about the new strip. It has certainly caught the imagination and looks like being our most popular to date."

The home kit will go on sale in May, although the away strip will not be available until August.

"Most of the orders have been for the home top with the fans willing to wait until the summer for the away one," added Dalgleish. Boss Craig Levein, meanwhile, is hoping to receive international clearance in time to play trialist Dries Boussatta in Monday night’s under-21 game at Aberdeen.

The Dutch international winger arrived in the Capital earlier this week hoping to win a permanent move and Levein is planning to run the rule over the wide man against the Dons.

"He is over here on a trial basis," said Levein, who was today linked with a summer swoop for Living-ston’s David Bingham. "We want to have a look at him on Monday night so hopefully the clearance will come through in time."

"We have been searching for a while for a wide player and to be honest I would idealy like to bring in two for the new season."

He added: "Myself and the backroom team have been abroad looking at a number of possibilities in what has been a huge effort to identify the right kind of players.

"But money is very tight and the people we bring in will have to make a difference to the team."
