Maybury set to miss derby after injury against Dons

PAUL KIDDIE

HEARTS’ victory over Aberdeen has come at a cost with experienced defender Alan Maybury in danger of missing Sunday’s derby showdown with Hibs through injury.

The Republic of Ireland internationalist failed to appear for the second half of last night’s 1-0 win over the Dons at Tynecastle after complaining of a sore hip and boss Craig Levein admitted that the full-back is now "extremely doubtful" for the trip to Easter Road.

The former Leeds United player was back at the ground today for treatment but even with the derby still three days away, Levein conceded that things aren’t looking too promising at the moment for the 25-year-old.

"It looks like it is a strain more than a knock and I’d have to say that he is struggling for Sunday’s game against Hibs," he said.

Joe Hamill is another who is causing concern, the winger having had to go off after 66 minutes of last night’s encounter after suffering a back injury.

Levein is hopeful the problem is a knock rather than a strain and will monitor the youngster’s progress as the big kick-off approaches.

Australian Patrick Kisnorbo managed to complete the 90 minutes against the Dons despite suffering a thigh knock and should be fine by the time Levein takes his team across the Capital as the Jambos look to continue their recent good record over their arch rivals.

Scott Severin, meanwhile, is recovering after undergoing surgery yesterday on his mystery groin injury.
