Burley urges kids to find form in Ireland

BARRY ANDERSON

HEARTS manager George Burley today challenged his young stars to find the form in Dublin that will force them into his team.

Graham Weir, 20, and 21-year-old Joe Hamill have both recently committed themselves to Tynecastle for another year in anticipation of finally commanding a regular first-team place.

Burley will hand the pair the ideal platform on Hearts' pre-season visit to the Irish capital, which incorporates fixtures against St Patrick's Athletic and Bray Wanderers.

The manager said: "Strikers are a priority. I'm looking forward to the trip to see the young players in action.

"We will try to take a good young squad over there and it will do me good to see them play in a couple of games."

Burley is hopeful of obtaining the opportunity to assess more new talent like Polish midfielder Maciej Murawski, who has been on trial at Riccarton.

He said: "Naturally we are working on a few things and that will be an ongoing.

"There are no guarantees, but hopefully within a week we will get one or two new faces."
