FYSSAS WANTS TO KEEP FOCUS

Hearts defender Takis Fyssas has warned his team-mates not to get carried away with their impressive start to the season - insisting their form will suffer if they start believing they are the best team in the league.

The Tynecastle side recorded their fourth straight win of the new season with a hard-fought 2-0 victory over Aberdeen to maintain their perfect start.

George Burley's side are even being talked of as real championship contenders following a hectic summer signing spree with seven new players arriving in Gorgie.

Left back Fyssas, who won Euro 2004 with Greece, is one of the players who arrived during the close season. However, he has warned of the pitfalls of becoming complacent.

He said: "All the supporters are happy with the way things are going at Hearts and everyone can see we're trying hard to do something this season.

"But we are only in our fourth game an there are, of course, many games during the season.

"We have to keep focussed and we can't think we are the best. We have a very good team here and if we continue to play like the way we are playing just now we are going to have a good season.

"It was very exciting against Aberdeen because the crowd were great and there was a great noise about the stadium.

"The players have made them very happy with the way we have begun the season but it's very important that we can keep going."

Fellow new recruit Rudi Skacel notched his fourth goal in as many games to set Hearts on their way against the Dons, latching onto a loose ball inside the box before calmly beating goalkeeper Ryan Esson in the 21st minute.

Substitute Michal Pospisil secured the points four minutes from the end after he slammed an 18-yard volley high into the net from Edgar Jankauskas' knockdown.

Hearts manager Burley, however, insists he is still looking to strengthen the team despite having an unblemished record in the league to date.

He said: "I still feel the squad is not strong enough if we are looking to improve and push on.

"The key is that boys are working for each other, they are enjoying it and they are working for each other."
