TERRY: DUFF MADE ME A STAR

By Euan Mclean

CHELSEA stopper John Terry has told Lee Johnson to learn all he can from Jim Duffy because the Jambos' football director made him a superstar.

Terry says Duff played a major role in his development through the youth ranks at Stamford Bridge while the Scot was a member of Gianluca Vialli's backroom staff.

England defender Terry L has not forgotten how Duffy would keep him back for extra one-on-one training sessions and hailed him a major influence.

Now the England star has used his brother to send a glowing report to Johnson.

Lee said: "Paul Terry, John's brother, played at Yeovil with me and using him as the middle man I've had a few conversations with John.

"When Duff came in I asked Paul to find out what he is like - and the message I got back from John said to take in everything Duff has to offer because he improved him so much.

"I've never spoken to John directly because it's easier getting a chat with the Queen. But the advice I got back was clear - I should learn as much as I can from Duff."

Johnson is loving life in Edinburgh since quitting Yeovil in January- and Jambos fans have left him in no doubt he has arrived in the club's most exciting season for decades.

He said: "Yeovil is like Jim Carrey's movie The Truman Show - you're sitting in a coffee shop and the same people walk past every day. Coming to a big city like Edinburgh with a lot of culture and history is really nice.

"The fans have been unbelievable. People in the street come and ask how I'm settling in, they're so welcoming.

"That has shown me the passion of the supporters and how important it is we give them success. That means we must keep looking towards top spot and not at the teams chasing us."
