HEARTS star Calum Elliot has dismissed talk of being crowned Scotland's Young Player of the Year to focus on helping the Jambos lift some silverware this season.

The teenager has been tipped to pick up the accolade after bursting onto the scene at Tynecastle this term.

Elliot, who marked his first Scotland under-21 appearance with two goals in a 4-0 rout of Iceland last week, has also been on target six times this term for Graham Rix's men. He has helped the Capital club to the semi-finals of the Tennent's Scottish Cup where they will clash with rivals Hibs at the start of next month while they are also on the verge of booking a Champions League spot next season.

However, the 18-year-old has revealed that he would rather pick up a trophy with Hearts than receive the coveted Young Player of the Year award. "I don't want to even think about that (Young Player of the Year award) because there are a lot of good young players around at the moment," said Elliot. "They are doing well for their clubs too although, obviously, if I can stay involved in the first team it's something I would love to be involved in.

"But the most important thing for me is to try and help Hearts win the Scottish Cup this year and finish as high up the league table as possible."
