ALEX McLEISH insists Rangers have already shown they have the bottle for the battle to secure second place in the Bank of Scotland Premierleague and the Ibrox boss is hoping lack of experience will ultimately prove to be the downfall of Hearts.

Rangers have twice won the championship on the final day of the season under McLeish, and he believes that never-say-die attitude will allow Rangers to pip Hearts to Champions League football after slashing the gap between the two clubs to just three points.

"The fact we were 16 points behind Hearts in December tells me we have players who can handle the pressure," said McLeish.

"We all took a lot of criticism but that's the nature of the beast at a club like this. That's why we are masochists and become managers and coaches. But we have tremendous experience of bouncing back from adversity.

"Hearts have some good experienced players and have had a great season. They are a good team. They have yet to experience some of the experiences that we have had.

"They have maybe not quite gone through some of our own fightbacks in the last three or four years."

The SPL fixtures for the remaining five games will not be released until the weekend but McLeish is hoping to take on Hearts as soon as possible. He added: "We know we have three away games and have looked at a lot of different formulas, but it is up to the SPL.

"There are always a run of games we would prefer but we are in the hands of the SPL.

"I would not like to play Hearts in the last game of the season. We would like to put pressure on as soon as we can."
