MAILSPORT PREMIER LEAGUE - SKACEL GOES OFF IN A HUFF
By Rob Fairburn

HUFFY Hearts star Rudi Skacel stormed out of Tynecastle after being dropped for yesterday's clash with Dunfermline.

Onlookers were stunned when the club's top scorer left the ground before the 4-0 rout of Pars.

The Czech midfield ace was clearly upset when told he was not part of the 118-man squad.

Skacel (left) was spotted leaving the main entrance before kick-off and there was no sign of him in the stand during the game.

Scotland defender Andy Webster and Julien Brellier were also left on the bench but it was Skacel's omission that caused the major surprise.

Jambos coach Valdas Ivanauskas said he had no idea whether Skacel had stayed to watch the match - and insisted he had been rested.

He said: "We need a fresh Rudi. It has been a hard week for us and every game is different.

"When you consider how many matches we've had I see no problem. It is the same with Andy and Julien."

Defender Robbie Neilson hopes Skacel will be back in the team for the run-in.

He said: "I don't think anybody's place is safe but we need Rudi because he is a big player.

"It just shows our strength of squad. You want to play every game but we have had a hectic schedule and were tired near the end."

Meanwhile, Pars gaffer Jim Leishman admitted his shellshocked young guns had no answer to the experience of Hearts.

And Leish claimed the loss of their last established midfielder Gary Mason with a training ground injury was a major blow as they were totally over-run in the middle of the park.

He admitted: "Hearts are on fire and in Paul Hartley they have the best midfielder in Scotland.

"We always knew it was going to be a hard game especially with our inexperience in midfield.

"Gary was our last recognised midfielder so that is all four out injured and it is difficult against such a strong team. However, we had three players under 21 in the team and they will learn from that."
