MAN BY MAN

RACE FOR THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE
Compiled By Gary Ralston

HEARTS

Craig Gordon 8

Stunning stop in the opening minutes from McManus set the standard.

Robbie Neilson 7

The most under-rated defender in the Scottish game didn't put a foot wrong.

Steven Pressley 8

His return brought calm to the Jambos defence and quelled physical threat of Dublin.

Ibrahim Tall

Lingered on the ball too often.

Takis Fyssas

Linked well with Skacel on left and kept Nakamura quiet.

Bruno Aguiar

Kept back door bolted, but wasn 't very busy.

Paul Hartley 9

Forget Rima's golden rods, it's Hartley's golden feet that delivered again.

Deividas Cesnauskis 7

Hearts fans knew it was their day when they saw him tackling like a demon.

Rudi Skacel 8

Return to form for the Czech whose vision and pace complemented Hartley.

Roman Bednar 7

Took his goal superbly and never shirked a single duty in an excellent shift.

Edgaras Jankauskas 7

All his display lacked was a goal.

Subs

Michal Pospisil - Kept Hoops on their toes until the end, 4. Nerijus Barasa - Helped Jambos run down the clock, 3. Christophe Berra - Replaced Tall and did well, 3.

CELTIC

Artur Boruc 6

Caught on the hop for the Jambos second but otherwise helpless against Hearts' verve.

Paul Telfer 6

Never looked comfortable against Skacel.

Stan Varga 6

Second-best by a distance in his tussles with Jankauskas and Bednar.

Stephen McManus 5

The hero here last time out had a stinker with early miss and shocking own goal.

Mark Wilson 6

Looked far more comfortable when he switched from left to right in the second half.

Neil Lennon 5

Subbed in second half as frustration over his lack of influence began to show.

Roy Keane 6

Always available for a pass, but lack of forward options around him dented his impact.

Shunsuke Nakamura 4

Looked as if he was conserving his energy for the World Cup.

Shaun Maloney 6

Showed flashes of danger on the left of midfield early on, but soon sucked into Celts' mediocrity.

Dion Dublin 6

His towering presence too big a temptation for his team-mates to play it high.

Maciej Zurawski 4

Didn't work half as hard off the ball as his team would have expected.

Subs

John Hartson - Replacement for Dublin but game was over, 3. Stilian Petrov - Failed to add midfield cutting edge, 3. Stephen Pearson - On for Zurawski but limited impact, 3.
