Hartley backing coach Ivanauskas

Hearts midfielder Paul Hartley says the players want interim head coach Valdas Ivanauskas to be given the job on a permanent basis.

Ivanauskas has helped guide Hearts to the Champions League qualifiers and the Scottish Cup final.

Now Hartley, who was voted the Bank of Scotland Premier League player of the month for April, is hopeful club owner Vladimir Romanov will reward that work.

"He's got a good case now he's got us to the Champions League," said Hartley.

"Hopefully we can win the cup final and Mr Romanov appoints him as manager.

"He's not spoken to the players, but they all want him to get the job."

Hearts face two qualifying rounds if they are to make the Champions League group stage.

Hartley added: "I'm sure the club will strengthen over the summer and bring in more quality players to make sure we get through the qualifying rounds."
