AHN BACKED TO BE HEARTS SUCCESS

Former Rangers manager Dick Advocaat has backed South Korea striker Ahn Jung-hwan to succeed at Hearts if he moves to Tynecastle.

The Gorgie club are poised to move for the striker in a £500,000 deal from MSV Duisburg.

Advocaat, now South Korea coach, is in Scotland to prepare for the World Cup and claims the 30-year-old could be successful in the Bank of Scotland Premier League.

He said: "I have heard about Hearts' interest in Ahn and that doesn't surprise me.

"He has proved to be a top international player over the years and having monitored him now for many months I rate him as a very good player. Ahn is 30 now but still fit and strong.

"He is deadly in and around the box and has the knack of scoring goals out of nothing.

"Although he isn't tall he is very good in the air and just as comfortable with his left foot as his right foot when it comes to shooting.

"I did not know him when I was at Rangers but if I had I would have signed him - he is definitely that good.

"He has played in France, Italy and Germany and I have no doubt he would be ideal for the Scottish game.

"Of course he would be able to handle the physical side of things here.

"With all respect, if he is playing for the South Korean national side and has scored goals against Italy the USA, who have very good defenders, then he can do an excellent job for Hearts."
