Pospisil outlines Hearts commitment

Michal Pospisil insists he is committed to Hearts despite holding talks with a Norwegian club over the summer.

The 27-year-old striker met with Stabaek chairman Einar Schultz in Oslo last month.

But he said the Scandinavians simply could not compete with what Hearts have to offer next season.

A second-place finish in the SPL last term secured a place in the Champions League qualifiers for the first time in the club's history.

And the Edinburgh outfit will also be hoping to retain the Tennent's Scottish Cup.

Pospisil admits he quickly realised there was no competition between the two clubs.

"The club invited me for a meeting, I went and spoke about the conditions and watched a game," he said.

"But I decided to stay at Hearts because I like this club, the city and the supporters.

"Hearts are a better team and the Scottish league is also better.

"So I don't want to change now. I want to continue at Hearts."

Celtic were runaway SPL winners last season, leaving Hearts and Rangers to fight a tense battle for the runners-up spot.

Pospisil believes Hearts are good enough to come out on top this time around but he is under no illusions as to how difficult it will be to be crowned Scottish champions.

"I think we can win the league but we are not alone," he said.

"Celtic and Rangers both have lots of new, good players so I think this year will be more difficult.

"I'm looking forward to the new season and I feel that we will be more experienced than last season.

"I'm especially looking forward to Europe."

Hearts will face the winners of Shakhtyor of Belarus or Siroki Brijeg of Bosnia-Herzegovina in the second qualifying round of the Champions League.

Pospisil believes Hearts will come out on top but has warned they can take nothing for granted as they attempt to join Celtic in the group stages of the competition.

"It's a good draw and we are favourites but we must prepare and learn a lot of information about the opponents," he told Hearts World.

"We must go through."
