WIDE BOY HAMMY STAKES A CLAIM FOR DEBUT GOAL

Ross County 0 Livingston 3

JOE HAMILL is clinging tight to his claim of a Livingston debut goal after setting the heather alight in the Highlands.

The former Hearts and Leicester City wide man marked his return to Scotland with an impressive display as his side saw off Ross County.

But the 22-year-old was dismayed to find most observers crediting the second strike of the afternoon as a Derek Adams own goal.

Hamill, who whipped in a cross from close to the corner flag, insisted the ball had found the net without a further touch.

After helping Livi to the top of the table he said: "I'm claiming it - too right I am. It's my goal.

"We've all set targets at the start of the season and mine was seven so I've six to go."

Hamill, who signed a three-year deal to rejoin his old Hearts boss, John Robertson, was involved in most of Livi's best play.

And as he gets his career back on track after an unhappy spell with Leicester the youngster sees no cause to aim for anything less than the First Division championship.

Hamill said: "With the players we have there's no reason why we can't be up there challenging."

Dave Mackay grabbed the opener on the half hour with an attempted cross that drifted high over keeper Craig Samson to land in the net.

The second arrived just before half-time with Adams appearing to get a final touch on Hamill's netbound cross as he tried to clear.

Steven Craig sealed the points in 54 minutes, rising in the box to head another Hamill cross past Samson.

County boss Scott Leitch said: "Livingston were hungrier and more aggressive. We have to work harder and the players have been told that in no uncertain terms."
