PARS' NEW HOPE OF JIM DEAL
By Ian Orr

DUNFERMLINE look set to make another move for Motherwell striker Jim Hamilton after losing out on a bid to land Hearts starlet Calum Elliot on loan.

It is believed the Pars have decided against pursuing 19-year-old Elliot as they reckon he is set for a temporary move to Fir Park.

And if he does become a Well player that could enhance Dunfermline's chances of landing Hamilton.

Pars boss Jim Leishman has been tracking the ex-Dundee United and Aberdeen marksman all summer and it now appears he could be allowed to leave if Elliot moves to Motherwell.

Hamilton insisted he was in the dark over any possible move to Dunfermline, claiming he was content to remain at Fir Park as long as he was wanted.

He said: "I'm more than happy to stay and fight for my place but if the manager is bringing in other players and he doesn't want me then I'll have to weigh up my options.

"The manager is away with the Scotland Under-21s at the moment so I've not spoken to him. Unless I'm told otherwise I'll just keep my head down and try to win my place back."

Elliot is not expected to complete any move until after the second leg of Hearts' Champions League qualifier against AEK Athens in Greece next Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Dunfermline finally received some good news on the injury front after midfielder Darren Young returned to training this week. He is now targeting the clash with former club Aberdeen a week on Saturday for his return.
