VALDAS: REFS AIN'T BIASED

PREMIER LEAGUE
By Euan Mclean

BRAVE Hearts boss Valdas Ivanauskas has risked the wrath of Vladimir Romanov by insisting referees do NOT have it in for the Tynecastle outfit.

The coach reckons whistler Charlie Richmond will have to be strong today at Easter Road to avoid a repeat of the red card madness that has seen four players sent off in the last four Edinburgh derbies.

But Ivanauskas reckons any mistakes the official might make this afternoon will not indicate a conspiracy against his team.

That's in stark contrast to Romanov who has outraged the authorities with repeated public outbursts claiming whistlers are doing everything to stop Hearts challenging the Old Firm.

Ivanauskas said: "Scottish refs are okay but everyone can make mistakes. It's just unfortunate those can change a game.

"I believe the referees are trying to give their best but their job is not easy.

"It's a discussion not just in Scotland. Every week in England, Germany and in international games too there are big discussions about referees.

"He will be important in this game because it is an emotional occasion, for the players as well as the supporters, so experience is important."

With Hibs rocking from Tony Mowbray's exit there has never been a better chance for Hearts to end a four-year winless run at their biggest rivals' home.

And with Ivanauskas now having all seven of his strikers available he admits it's tempting to go for it.

He said: "It's time to win at Easter Road again. We are ready.

"With so many strikers available it's tempting to send out an attacking team. We have quality players who can score the goals and win this game."
