Robertson puts faith in Pars side

Craig Robertson has been told he will retain his job
Dunfermline caretaker manager Craig Robertson has called for his players to restore their battered pride with a passionate performance at Tynecastle.

Jim Leishman stepped down as boss after Monday's 4-0 home defeat by Hibernian and second-top Hearts are next up.

And Robertson said: "It is hard for the players when a manager goes, especially when the gaffer was so emotional.

"It is just about getting the spirits back up again when you lose your boss. I am sure the players will be okay."

Hearts are in turmoil themselves after head coach Valdas Ivanauskas took time off, citing ill-health following last weekend's home defeat by Kilmarnock.

But Robertson, who has received coaching help from captain Scott Thomson, admitted: "Apart from ourselves, nobody is expecting us to do anything against Hearts.

I have been told there is only one vacancy at the club and that is Jim's

"It is 16 years since we won there, but the players must play to a standard that is acceptable.

"The training on Friday was very good, very lively. I asked Scott Thomson to help me take it, just to get something a bit different.

"Our pride was hurt on Monday and they must regain that as quickly as possible. We need a reaction."

Speculation continues to surround the East End Park vacancy, with Craig Levein, John Robertson and Bobby Williamson all reported to be in the frame for the post.

However, the Dunfermline number two is confident that he will not become a victim of the managerial shake-up at the club.

"I have just been told to take the team for Saturday and I am not sure when the club expect to make an appointment," he said.

"But I have been told there is only one vacancy at the club and that is Jim's. That is pleasing from my point of view."
