AGUIAR: WE DON'T HAVE CLUE WHO'S IN THE TEAM

PREMIER LEAGUE HEARTS v RANGERS Today, 2pm Live on Setanta
By Gavin Berry

HEARTS midfielder Bruno Aguiar admits the Jambos stars have no idea who will start today's Tynecastle crunch.

The Portuguese ace has been guessing who would feature in the last few games - only for the opposite to happen.

That was the case last week when captain Steven Pressley was axed from the squad for the match against Falkirk and key man Paul Hartley was dumped on the bench.

It remains to be seen who will play against Rangers but Aguiar insists those who are dropped should be happy for the others.

There has been outrage over the omission of Pressley and Hartley from the starting line-up for the 1-1 draw with the Bairns on Monday.

But Aguiar (below) claims it's impossible to predict what the team will be.

The former Benfica man said: "Sometimes I think Paul or Steven will play but when it comes round to the game it turns out they are not. You never know.

"Whoever starts must give everything and if one player isn't playing then he has to be happy for the others.

"Hearts isn't about one man, there are many players.

"We missed Steven on Monday night. It was a difficult situation because he is the leader and the captain but I can't say more because I'm not the manager and I don't pick the team.

"I'm not David Copperfield so I can't say if our best chance of beating Rangers is with or without him.

"I don't worry about who is playing. I'm more concerned that whoever is in the side gives 100 per cent."

Today's game will be a battle of this season's SPL crisis clubs with Hearts' off-field saga and Rangers' Paul Le Guen under pressure early in his Ibrox managerial career.

Ironically, one of Gers' best performances of the season came against the Jambos at home when they comfortably won 2-0 thanks to a Kris Boyd double.

Hearts are without a win in six games and owner Vladimir Romanov has acted quickly in a bid to arrest the decline of the side who finished second last season.

Former Kaunas coach Eugenijus Riabovas will officially take charge tomorrow with Eduard Malofeev in the dugout for the last time for today's visit of Gers to the capital.

Aguiar knows after the dismal start to their respective campaigns, today's match is massive but is confident Hearts can again beat the Ibrox club to second spot.

He said: "It's a big game. We need to win and this match will be treated like a derby.

"Rangers have some problems like us and they will desperately want to win but so do we because we are the home team.

"When we get to kick-off all the problems will go out of the players' minds.

"It won't be a disaster for the loser and it will be a case of looking forward.

"The season is not over yet and there are plenty of matches left for ourselves and Rangers but we have the quality to beat them and finish second again.

"Before I came to Hearts I heard it was always the Old Firm in first and second place but that doesn't have to be the case.

"We've played some good stuff at home without getting the results.

"Everyone wants to beat us because of our success last season and it's not so easy.

"We are creating plenty of chances at home but sometimes we are just unlucky.

"We played well at Celtic Park a couple of weeks ago and were unfortunate to lose.

"We must show the same work ethic as we did at Parkhead."
