Vladimir has to be brave, says McGlynn

FORMER Hearts assistant coach John McGlynn insisted today the problems at the club can be resolved - but only if owner Vladimir Romanov swallows his pride.

McGlynn, who has been a steadying influence at the Jambos over the last couple of years, was officially unveiled as the new manager of Raith Rovers yesterday.

He was due to meet with the Rovers players today and will be in charge of the Stark's Park outfit for the first time against Stranraer on Saturday.

His departure leaves Hearts without a single English-speaking senior coach and is sure to be met with dismay among the Gorgie faithful. But McGlynn is confident the club can get back on an even keel.

"If Mr Romanov wants to fix it, he could fix it very easily and I think the club could go back to where they were and go even further," he said.

"He needs to be big and brave and sort it out. Good can come out of these situations if the problems are addressed."

McGlynn has revealed he is looking forward to the challenge of being boss at Rovers and

added: "I've worked with a number of excellent managers at Hearts, such as Jim Jefferies, Craig Levein, John Robertson, George Burley and Graham Rix, and gained a great deal of experience and knowledge along the way.

"I intend to do things my way at Raith Rovers and my first objective will be to help pull the club away from the relegation zone."
