NO IDEA WHO'LL BE THE BOSS AT HEARTSBy Anthony Haggerty HEARTS players were in the dark last night over who will be their manager for Saturday's trip to Inverness as the Tynecastle turmoil deepened. FBK Kaunas coach Eugenijus Riabovas was expected to take charge but was still in Lithuania yesterday and is said to have told the media in his homeland he won't be back at Tynecastle until December 1 to start a "six-month trial" as team boss. Yesterday's training session was taken by caretaker manager Eduard Malofeev and coach John McGlynn but the Scot will start his new job as manager of Raith Rovers tomorrow. The original scenario appeared to be that Riabovas would replace Malofeev, who was due to return to Russia to take his coaching certificates. But it seems to be all-change again. Some observers in Lithuania believe owner Vladimir Romanov is having second thoughts about the appointment of Riabovas after the demonstration that followed Sunday's 1-0 home defeat by Rangers. But the club denied this and claimed neither Hearts nor Riabovas had ever given a definite starting date for his appointment. A Tynecastle spokesperson said: We did not say Riabovas was starting on Monday. We said he would be here before the end of the month and we still have nine days or so to go. "It is too early to say who will be in charge this weekend." Meanwhile, fans want an urgent meeting with Romanov after voicing "serious concerns" over his running of the club. Members of the G10 group used their get-together on Monday night to air their worries about recent events at the club. The Supporters' Trust, the Federation of Supporters' Clubs, the Shareholders' Assocation and the Fans' Forum have put on a united front to try to influence Romanov. They met with his right-hand man, deputy chief executive Pedro Lopez, general secretary Campbell Ogilvie and communications director David Southern and and made them aware of their concerns. In a statement they said: "The four organisations took the opportunity to express their serious concerns. "We particularly focused on and agreed that there was an urgent need to meet Vladimir Romanov to discuss issues concerning short-term vision and solutions, long-term vision and also football matters and team performance." ![]() Taken from the Daily Record |
