YEARS IN WAITING BUT I'M NO SLOW COACHBy Gordon Waddell RAITH boss John McGlynn believes he has earned his crack at management after an 11-year apprenticeship at Hearts. The new Raith Rovers gaffer has been the man in the shadows for so long, grafting his way through the coaching ranks since 1987 after a less-than-stellar playing career with Bolton as a kid then Berwick. And he believes it was his lack of top-flight action on the pitch that stopped him getting a bigger club like Paul Lambert (left) and John Collins. McGlynn, who had three separate spells as caretaker boss of the Jambos, said: "I've worked really hard - few people will serve an 11 year apprenticeship - and that's why I'm going into managerment. "I deserve the chance after working with players such as Takis Fyssas who has won a European Championship and Edgaras Jankauskas who has lifted the Champions League. "Hopefully I've earned the respect of every player who walked through the door at Tynecastle." Taken from the Sunday Mail |
