YEARS IN WAITING BUT I'M NO SLOW COACHBy Gordon Waddell RAITH boss John McGlynn believes he has earned his crack at management after an 11-year apprenticeship at Hearts. The new Raith Rovers gaffer has been the man in the shadows for so long, grafting his way through the coaching ranks since 1987 after a less-than-stellar playing career with Bolton as a kid then Berwick. And he believes it was his lack of top-flight action on the pitch that stopped him getting a bigger club like Paul Lambert (left) and John Collins. McGlynn, who had three separate spells as caretaker boss of the Jambos, said: "I've worked really hard - few people will serve an 11 year apprenticeship - and that's why I'm going into managerment. "I deserve the chance after working with players such as Takis Fyssas who has won a European Championship and Edgaras Jankauskas who has lifted the Champions League. "Hopefully I've earned the respect of every player who walked through the door at Tynecastle." ![]() Taken from the Sunday Mail |
