HLEB: I'LL BE ALL HEARTS

Anthony Haggerty

VYACHESLAV HLEB hopes his stalled move to Hearts can be rekindled in the summer but admits he needs to address a nasty streak if he is to become a star in the SPL.

Hleb revealed that his older brother, Arsenal star Alexander, reckons a move to Tynecastle could transform his stop-start career - if he also irons out flaws in his personality.

He said: "Alex has advised me to go to Hearts and also to change my character.

"I've got a nasty streak and it sometimes comes out in my dealings with people.

"That's why I couldn't hold down a place at Hamburg two years ago - because of my character."

A switch to Hearts would see Hleb become the first player to complete a Vladimir Romanov hat-trick by playing for all three of the tycoon's clubs.

Hleb spent last season with MTZ RIPO in his native Belarus but his registration is held by Kaunas, both owned by the Jambos chief.

The player saw a move to Hearts dashed by Home Office red tape last year but he is confident the deal can go through this time.

If he plays in the Belarus national side's next three matches he will have enough caps to meet requirements for a work permit.

Last week Romanov seemed to give Hleb's chances of a move to Tynecastle a major boost.

He said: "Vyacheslav has matured and his attitude is more serious - he has become a man."
