Hearts Management - A DisgraceWell, we're half-way through Monday and Craig Gordon and Paul Hartley remain Hearts players, but for how long? It now appears to be clear that Vladimir Romanov is determined to offload both for their role in the Riccarton press conference, especially if the reports that Hearts have actively looked for buyers for both are to be believed. One of these reports even suggests that the club offered Hartley to Rangers, which probably tells you all you need to know about those managing our club. This is simply madness. Fair enough if they want him to leave, but where is the sense in offering him to your closest rivals for Champions League football next season? This makes no sense from a football, business or personal point of view. It's just the latest baffling decision in what has been the worst year of management of a football club I've possibly ever witnessed. Gordon confirmed to the press that he is being pushed out of Tynecastle against his will. He was quoted as saying: 'I'm not sure what is going on but it looks as if the club would prefer it if I left. But I don't want to go. 'If there's an offer for me that I couldn't turn down, that's fine. If not, I want to stay where I am.' People can turn round and say 'but this had to happen after they openly spoke our against their bosses'. Yes, I can't disagree with that. But my anger here is over the events that led them to have to do that in the first place. All the way back to the sacking of George Burley, our club has been slowly decimating itself after genuinely appearing to be on the verge of something special. I'm not sure if it's deliberate on the part of Romanov or he's just inexperienced in football and has made honest mistakes, but whichever it is, it's been to the detriment of HMFC. Even former Hearts defender David Weir, who made his Ibrox debut against his old club on Saturday, is sad at what is going on at Tynecastle. He said: 'I feel sorry for the Hearts fans and players. 'They want to see the best players on the pitch and two of Hearts' best players were not playing. The fans turn up, pay their money to see the best players and are not seeing them. 'It's not for me to be judge and jury on it. I can only see it from the players' point of view - and they must have been disappointed not to have been picked. 'I am sure their minds will be right because they are professionals and they understand the situation. In my opinion, they will stay in the Scotland team.' Probably, David. Signing for an English side or one of the Old Firm normally guarantees that, regardless of whether they are first team regulars or not! http://www.hearts.vitalfootball.co.uk |
