NEW ARRIVALS KAUN MAKE A HEARTS XIGary Ralston HEARTS last night completed a team of loan signings from Kaunas - then added three subs for good measure. The Scottish Cup holders finally secured Ghanaian defender Laryea Kingston on an initial six-month deal via the Lithuanian champions and Lokomotiv Moscow. He became the 11th player to join the club on loan from Kaunas and if he impresses there is the option of another three years in the SPL. Hearts then signed Lithuanian defender Tomas Kancelskis from Vladimir Romanov's other club and followed with the addition of team-mate Linas Pilibaitis, with both players agreeing six-month deals. Another keeper arrived at Tynecastle in the form of Arnus Lekevicius, also from FBK Kaunas, to take the new intake up to four. Hearts now have 14 players on loan from the Lithuanian side. Central defender Kancelskis, 31, failed to win a deal when he turned out in a pre-season friendly against Osasuna but Romanov now feels he's worth a shot. He has been capped 14 times and is reckoned to be in the Steven Pressley mould. Pilibaitis, 22, is an attacking midfielder who can also play up front and has already been capped three times after making the step up recently from the Under-21s. Lekevicius, 22, will provide back-up in the goalkeeping department at Hearts who already have Craig Gordon and Steve Banks. ![]() Taken from the Daily Record |
