14th Kaunas player on his wayANGUS WRIGHT HEARTS' use of FBK Kaunas as a feeder club is likely to continue in the summer with the recruitment of defender Pascal Mendy. The player claims he already has a contract in place to move to Tynecastle and it is believed the only outstanding issue is a work permit. Mendy, 28, is a Senegalese international, but may have to play more regularly for the national side to secure his permit. The centre-back left Dinamo Moscow for Kaunas, but considers the switch to the Lithuanian side a temporary move. "My transfer was not to Kaunas," Mendy said. "I will be there only until all the papers are ready. Later I will move to Hearts, the team with which I already have a contract." Mendy said his long-term goal was to play in France. "My dream is to play for PSG or any other club from France," he said. "I hope my dream will come true." The Tynecastle club already have 13 players signed or on loan from Kaunas, who are controlled by Hearts owner Vladimir Romanov. They are Eduardas Kurskis, Arnus Lekevicius, Tomas Kancelskis, Linas Pilibaitis, Marius Zaliukas, Andrius Velicka, Nerijus Barasa, Bruno Aguiar, Jose Goncalves, Edgaras Jankauskas, Roman Bednar, Saulius Mikoliunas and Deividas Cesnauskis. ![]() Taken from the Scotsman |
