Andrew Driver: I'm not interested in leaving Hearts

Dec 14 2008 By Gavin Berry

ANDREW DRIVER insists he's not interested in going anywhere - despite Hearts' plan to flog their top assets in the January sales.

The Englishman delivered a super performance, grabbing the opener in yesterday's 1-1 draw with Celtic, that is sure to attract attention from other clubs.

Jambos boss Csaba Laszlo claimed scouts were at Parkhead to run the rule over some of his players - with the forward the pick of the bunch.

Burnley have already bid twice for the player but Driver is adamant he's happy at Tynecastle.

He said: "It's up to Hearts. I signed a new contract in the summer and am happy in Edinburgh. I don't want to move.

All my family are here."

Laszlo backed up Driver's desire to stay and told all his players they would be wasting their time moving to a big club if they're going to sit on the bench.

The Tynecastle boss said: "I have a lot of good and bad experience of football, a lot of experience with young players.

"You must know 100 per cent the right moment to move, especially when you are young. And if you move you must play in your new team. If you have a break in your career it is hard to rise again.

"For example, Christophe Berra is a fantastic guy but I've told him it's critical to know at which moment to move.

"The Scotland manager doesn't want a player from a reserve team."

Yesterday's draw maintains Hearts' unbeaten run but ended a five-game winning sequence of SPL games.

Driver revealed just how far Hearts have come recently under Laszlo by claiming the players were having a go at each other at full-time because they were unhappy at only claiming a point.

Driver said: "We were a bit frustrated and argued at the end because some of the boys felt we sat too deep in the second half and got pushed up.

"It shows the spirit we've got when we come to Parkhead expecting to win.

"When the team is winning it drives you on to a better performance. I felt nervous about letting the team down because everyone has been doing so well."
