Naismith the hero as Hearts dramatically edged
From Hearts News at Tynecastle Stadium

Hearts are still searching for a first home win of the season after today's 2-1 defeat to Rangers in the lunch time kick off at Tynecastle.

Rudi Skacel's first half strike was cancelled out by Kyle Lafftery's free kick, before Naismith scored in stoppage time to inflict a cruel defeat on the Jambos.

Jim Jefferies made four personnel changes from last week's defeat to Motherwell, as well a opting for different formation. Out went Jason Thomson, Suso, Ruben Palazuelos, Ryan Stevenson and David Templeton. In came Craig Thomson, Darren Barr, Ian Black, David Obua and Rudi Skacel in a 3-5-2 system.

Rangers made two changes from the midweek win over Bursaspor. McCulloch and Broadfoot made way for Weiss and Broadfoot.

The champions were first to threaten after nine minutes. Jelavic's effort was parried by Kello before Davis' follow up was brilliantly cleared off the line by Bouzid.

Hearts then took the lead on 12 minutes. Rudi Skacel got on to the end of Bouzid's long ball and muscled between Bougherra and Weir, before enjoying a fortunate break of the ball that allowed him to score from close range. It was the Czech midfielder's first goal since returning to Tynecastle, much to the delight of his fans.

Kevin Kyle was inches away from doubling the lead shortly after. The big striker just failed to make contact with Craig Thomson's excellent delivery from the right.

Jelavic almost brought Rangers level on the half hour mark. The Croatian's overhead kick was spectacular, however Kello showed fantastic reactions to deny the £4million striker.

Hearts had an excellent chance to go two up a minute after the restart. Thomson's corner found Kyle unmarked, although the No. 9 didn't appear to be expecting the ball and couldn't find the target.

Hearts began to assert themselves more in an attacking sense. Obua's searching ball was trapped by Elliot, who turned inside Weir before dragging his left foot shot wide after 54 minutes.

Sasa Papac was the width of a post away from equalising on 65 minutes. The Bosnian's left foot volley beat Kello, only to rebound back of the Slovakian's right hand post.

Davis was in again seconds later after neat interplay with Miller, although the Ulsterman could only fire over with just Kello to beat.

Steven Whittaker was next to threaten on 72 minutes. The fullback's left foot shot deflected en route to goal, forcing Kello in to a smart stop at his near post.

The pressure was telling, and Walter Smith's men finally got their equaliser with just over ten minutes remaining. Barr was booked for a foul on Naismith on the edge of the area, and Lafferty fired the resultant free kick through the wall and in to the bottom corner.

Kyle spurned a glorious with seven minutes to go. Stevenson fed Thomson on the right, whose back post delivery found Kyle in space. The former Killie man connected, but only managed to head over McGregor's cross bar.

Palazuelos worked McGregor three minutes later, although his volley was right down the 'keeper's throat.

Rangers were immediately on the offensive, and Weiss' dipping drive whistled past Kello's far post.

Lafferty should have grabbed his and his side's second on 88 minutes. Davis flashed a ball across goal to pick out the Northern Ireland international, who was denied by a fantastic point blank save by Kello.

Davis himself came close to a likely winner as the game moved in to stoppage time. His scissor kick from 18 yards struck left Kello helpless, who was relieved to see the ball strike the post.

As it was, the Glasgow side won the game deep in to stoppage time. Steven Naismith drove at the Hearts defence, before cutting inside on to his right foot and slotting beyond Kello.
