Jim McIntyre seeks Jason Thomson replacement

DUNFERMLINE manager Jim McIntyre is looking to bring in players straight away after Jason Thomson returned to Hearts.

The Dunfermline board this week revealed they were looking to raise income to help McIntyre bring in a "further two or three players" during the January transfer window.

However, full-back Thomson's departure following the end of his loan spell means McIntyre can immediately strengthen. "We're looking to fill that space," McIntyre said. "I've had a chat with the board and they are working behind the scenes to try to raise funds to strengthen the squad.

"If the right players are available I'll be able to bring them in right away, but how many will depend on how much clubs want for their players."

McIntyre admitted he needed to bring players in after a 3-0 defeat by St Johnstone on Christmas Eve left them bottom of the Clydesdale Bank Premier League and without a home win all season. But he insists he has not given up on any of his current squad.

"I don't think I said to any of my players that they need to move on," said McIntyre, whose team host new SPL leaders Celtic on Monday. "What I said was you can't expect to keep your place in the team if you're making the same mistakes.

"The bottom line is, if you make mistakes and you continue to make them and you're not learning from them, then you need to look to change your team around."
