Hearts ace Ian Black brands Hibs rival Ian Murray 'a bore'

May 19 2012 By Scott McDermott

HEARTS star Ian Black has goaded Hibs stalwart Ian Murray ahead of the Scottish Cup Final by accusing him of being a BORE.

The Jambos midfielder cranked up the heat ahead of today’s Hampden showdown by insisting he has no regrets about his t-shirt message to Hibees fans after their derby win in January.

After doing a shift as a painter and decorator while his wages were delayed, Black celebrated the Gorgie side’s 3-1 success at Easter Road by wearing a t-shirt reading “I’ll paint this place maroon.”

Hibs die-hard Murray responded after the game when he said: “I’m sure Blacky will look back on that and think it’s a bit cringeworthy.

“Believe me, the tide will turn again.”

But on the eve of this afternoon’s showpiece Final, Black claims he was right to rile the Hibs support and slated Murray for shaving a green 1973 into his head nine years ago for the 30th anniversary of Hibs’ famous 7-0 win over their rivals.

The 27-year-old revealed he doesn’t have a special t-shirt for Hampden but believes he’ll get his message across by lifting the trophy for his boyhood club.

Black said: “I don’t regret the t-shirt at Easter Road. It’s posted everywhere now so I’ve made a name for myself.

“Nobody remembers Murray’s daft haircut but they all remember my t-shirt. It was a bit of friendly banter.

“If you can’t take banter, you’re a boring guy.

“I don’t think I could top the t-shirt at Hampden so I won’t bother with a personal message. I’ll stick to my Hearts strip.

“Hopefully, the message to them will be ‘we’re Scottish Cup winners’.

“No doubt, the Hibs fans will have a few messages for us during the game.”
