Edinburgh Evening News:
The big day is finally here!
From mid-morning the M8 has seen a stream of coaches and cars heading west for the first Scottish Cup Final meeting between Hearts and Hibs since 1896.
As the earlycomers pile in the National Stadium, the excitement is growing by the minute.
14:09

Edinburgh Evening News:
The two goalkeepers are the first to arrive on the pitch for their pre-match warm ups. Jamie McDonald is put through his paces in front of two giant Hearts inflatables at one end while Mark Brown has two massive Hibs blow-up figures behind him at the other end of the ground.

Edinburgh Evening News:
The teams are named. They are:

Hibs: Mark Brown, Matti Doherty, Paul Hanlon, Jorge Claros,Garry O'Connor, Tom Soares, James McPake, Lewis Stevenson, Pa Kujabi, Isaiah Osbourne, Leigh Griffiths. Subs: Paul Grant, Sean O'Hanlon, Eoin Doyle, Ivan Sproule, George Francomb.
Hearts: Jamie McDonald, Danny Grainger, Darren Barr, Andy Webster, Suso Santana, Ian Black, Stephen Elliott, Andy Driver, Ryan McGowan, Rudi Skacel, Marius Zaliukas. Subs: Mark Ridgers, Craig Beattie, Mehdi Taouil, Scott Robinson, Denis Prychynenko.

And Hearts: MacDonald; McGowan, Webster, Zaliukas, Grainger; Barr, Black; Santana, Skacel,Driver; Elliott. [via Twitter]
14:17

Edinburgh Evening News:
Both line-ups are pretty much as expected.
For Hibs, it shows one change from the side that beat Dunfermline to secure SPL survival, with Leigh Griffiths coming back in after suspension.
As for Hearts, the big question-mark had been hanging over Craig Beattie, the penalty hero in the semi-final win over Celtic. And, as expected, he had to be contest with a place on the bench after missing the final three SPL games with a troublesome injury.
14:18

Edinburgh Evening News:
The rest of the Hearts players emerge for the warm up, just as 'Glory, Glory to the Hibees' is struck up on the stadium PA system!!!!!!

If the build up is anything to go by, then let's hope it's not another 116 years before the two sides meet on this stage again!!!!

How ironic that he was Jim Jefferies' assistant at Hearts in 1998 and also started the current campaign on the Hearts coaching staff! It must be strange for BB but being a true professional he'll have done his utmost to help get the Hibs players properly prepared for the biggest day of their careers!

The Cup is paraded by a legend from each club - former Hibs sklpper Pat Stanton and legendary Hearts striker John Robertson! The mere mention of Robbo's name provokes a chorus of boos from the Hibs end! His exploits in Capital derbies over the years obviously still prove painful for those in green and white!

Edinburgh Evening News:
It's a nervy start by both sides. Pa Kujabi and Leigh Griffiths produce the first constructive move of the afternoon with some neat interchange on the halfway line but it comes to nothing in the end.
15:10

Edinburgh Evening News:
Ian Black flattens Leigh Griffiths as the pair challenge for a header. The Hibs fans scream for action to be taken against Black but the referee deems a stern talking to to be sufficient.

Edinburgh Evening News:
Grainger's corner isn't cleared by Hibs, allowing Ryan McGowan to stab the ball goalwards. It falls perfectly for Darren Barr and he fires home from close range! What a sweet moment for the former Falkirk player, who was out of favour early in the season and only got into the team towards the end of the campaign due to Adrian Mrowiec being injured.
15:17

Then Kujabi is booked, late on Suso. Get the mitts aff! [via Twitter]
15:19

Edinburgh Evening News:
Kujabi receves the first yellow card of the afternoon for catching Suso Santana late near the touchline! The Hibs man had no cause for complaint. From Grainger's free-kick, the ball falls to Andy Webster but he is unable to get a clean connection and the ball pops up into the hands of Mark Brown. Hearts have their tails up and Hibs need to settle down.

TomEnglishSport:
Hibs fans need to rouse themselves here. They've gone quiet. [via Twitter]
15:25

Edinburgh Evening News:
Skacel concedes a free-kick and is perhaps a touch fortunate not to earn a yellow card. Hibs almost equalise from the set-piece. Skipper James McPake gets up to head it on and Garry O'Connor almost gets on the end of it. The Hibs striker may have been nudged by Danny Grainger - the first controversial moment of the game!

15:35

Edinburgh Evening News:
Isaiah Osbourne gives the ball away cheaply and Hibs pay the ultimate penalty. Driver feeds Black who, in turn, plays a low pass into Skacel on the edge of the box. He has room to turn and fires in a left-foot shot that takes a deflection off McPake and flies past the helpless Brown.

Edinburgh Evening News:
Hibs squander a great chance to get themselves back in the game. Kujabi's cross from the left finds O'Connor but he blasts a shot on the turn over the bar. Minutes later and it's almost game, set and match at the other end. The ball falls to Santana at the corner of the six-yard box and he drills in a shot that was goalbound until McPake slid in to sweep the ball behind.

Comment From George
Hibs will be down to nine men before the end. Who will be next to go?
16:10

Edinburgh Evening News:
From having hope at the start of the second-half, the Hibs fans are a picture of total dejection within the space of a few minutes. Some, in fact, start heading for the exits, the painful start to the second-half proving too painful! Television replays of the game's pivotal moment are also likely to prove painful for those in green and white. Kujabi pulled Santana's shirt outside the box and the winger also seemed to still be outside the box when the Hibs man made the slightest of contact on his ankle.
16:12

Edinburgh Evening News:
Hibs manager Pat Fenlon makes his second change of the game as Eoin Doyle comes on for the ineffective O'Connor. It's shaping up to be a long and agonising second-half for the HIbs fans as Hearts use their numerical advantage to press for a fifth goal!

Hibs launch their first attack of the second-half but Griffiths sees his shot deflected behind by Webster for a corner. There's a delay in that being taken as McGowan receives treatment for a rib knock.

Edinburgh Evening News:
More and more red seats are visible in the Hibs end! In contrast, it's proving an enjoyable afternoon for those in maroon and white at the opposite end! Every Hearts touch is greeted by a cheer as they start to make Hibs chase shadows around the park!
16:18

Edinburgh Evening News:
It appears that Kujabi wasn't shown a straight red! He had been booked in the first-half and referee Thomson seemed to flash a yellow card before he brandished the red one!
16:20

Edinburgh Evening News:
While the Hearts fans would disagree, it's a pity those two goals came so early in the second-half and also so close together! Why? Because they killed the game and wiped out what had been shaping up to be an exciting 45 minutes!

The urgency between the two teams from the opening whistle has been like night and day, to be honest! The HIbs fans are becoming more and more frustrated.... and no wonder. Should we be harsh on Hibs? They did exceptionally well to get to the final, considering how poor their league form has been this season. A cup run has to end in disappointment for all but one team. Hibs got further than 50 other teams in the cup this season. Losing today doesn't change that.

Paulo Sergio, draped in a Portuguese flag, is the last man in the line as Hearts receive their winner's medals. It's a sweet moment for Sergio, who has had to deal with so much off-the-field strife this season but has led them with great dignity and deserves this day just as much as his players.

A great day for Hearts; a massively disappointing one for Hibs!

A great time to be a Hearts fan, but respect too to those true Hibs fans who stuck it out to the bitter, the very bitter, end.
