HEARTS were today hit with a £4000 fine by Uefa after supporters invaded the pitch at Anfield last month.

Around 1,500 Jambo fans travelled south for the second leg of their Europe League play-off clash against Liverpool on August 30 after seeing the first leg at Tynecastle end in a 1-0 defeat.

When David Templeton scored late in the game at Liverpool’s home ground it sparked wild celebrations in the away end and some fans spilled onto the park as it looked like the Edinburgh side would take tie into extra time.

However, Reds striker Luis Suarez hit home just minutes later to send Liverpool through 2-1 on aggregate.

A UEFA statement read: “Heart of Midlothian FC have been fined €5,000 by the UEFA Control and Disciplinary Body for ‘pitch invasion by supporters’ at last month’s UEFA Europa League play-off second-leg match at Anfield Road between Liverpool FC and the Scottish club.”
