Inverness 1-1 Heart of Midlothian

From Hearts Media at the Tulloch Caledonian Stadium.

Marius Zaliukas's 89th minute penalty earned Hearts a hard fought point against Inverness Caledonian Thistle in Saturdays's 1-1 draw at Tulloch Caledonian Stadium.

Owain Tudur Jones's stunning long range strike handed the home side a well deserved first half lead, before Captain Zaliukas rescued a point for the Jambos with minutes remaining.

McGlynn had made two changes in attack as Ryan Stevenson lead the line in lone striker role, replacing John Sutton. Meanwhile, Scott Robinson made way for fellow academy graduate Jason Holt who filled the attacking midfield role behind Stevenson.

Terry Butcher's men came into the game on the back of a seven game unbeaten run and they certainly looked the sharper side for much of the first half.

Andrew Shinnie threatened to break the deadlock on seven minutes as he swept a half volley wide of goal from just inside the box.

The attacker was ICT's liveliest player in the first half and played a key role when his team took the lead in the 18th minute, having drifted in from the right before teeing up Tudur Jones who smashed an unstoppable 25 yard shot into the top left corner.

Hearts were guilty of inaccurate passes and a general lack of cohesion in attack up until then, but picked up their game towards the end of the half, albeit it without carving out any significant opportunities.

McGlynn introduced Dylan McGowan and Andy Driver after the interval and Hearts soon began to put the hosts under considerable pressure.

Inverness still threatened on the break, however, and were gifted a double chance when Holt conceded possession deep in his own half. Andrew Shinnie cut inside the box only to be denied by a superb Jamie Macdonald save, before Tudur Jones's effort on the rebound was blocked on its way to goal.

For the most part, Hearts were in the driving seat yet found themselves restricted to shots from the edge of the box by a resilient home defence. Time and time again Butcher's men put their bodies on the line as they blocked several efforts by Stevenson in and around the hour mark.

Just as time seemed to be running out for the Jambos, however, Stevenson found himself hauled down in the box in the 89t minute and referee William Collum showed no hesitation in pointing to the spot.

Up stepped birthday Zaliukas who confidently buried his penalty kick into the bottom left corner, much to the delight of the travelling support behind the goal.

ICT still had some fight in them as they responded immediately, curling a ball in from the left which Danny Grainger very nearly bundled into his own net.

The Jambos held on, however, and picked up a well deserved point against the SPL's in form side and can now look ahead to Saturday's home game against St Mirren.
